Guest House

Steve & Phill moved to France at the end of September 2014 with the dream of locating a suitable property within half an hour’s travelling time from the delightful and historic city of Montpellier.

After searching for four months a property was located in Les Mougères, Marseillan and we moved into the house on 20 June 2015. We are continually in the process of developing the guest house and a number of interesting developments are taking place. Both guest rooms have been completed – the Cloaca Room and the Africa Room. Both rooms have reversable air conditioning/heater units.

Local Information

If you share a PASSION for food and wine, Marseillan is a veritable paradise - a village surrounded by vinyards and lapped by the waters of a the Étang de Thau brimming with oysters and mussels (if that is your thing!), with a weekly market every Tuesday offering delicious meats, fruits, olives and the aromatic herbs of the South of France, along with over two dozen mouthwatering restaurants.

If you are looking for the real South of France, then Marseillan, a genuine Languedoc village of fishermen and wine growers, has the perfect combination of simplicity and abundance, a warm welcome, magnificent views and an eagerness to share its treasures with visitors from near and afar.

Here, flamingos gather in spring, and swallows swoop in autumn, and every week brings a fresh excuse for us to raise a glass of the local wine and Noilly Prat aperitif.

The Port of Marseillan is our favourite place to enjoy excellant food and wine, and partake in a spot of people watching. As the sun shines and the weather gets warmer, people flock to the area to enjoy the ambience that it has to offer.

Other Things of Note

We are approximately 25 minutes from Béziers Cap d'Agde Airport and 15 minutes from our local TGV/RER train station, Gare d'Agde by car/taxi. Cap d'Agde and the beaches of the Mediterranean Sea are less than 30 minutes away by car/taxi. There is a bus which runs between Sète, Marseillan Plage and Marseillan Ville between the beginning of May and the end of September. The nearest bus stop is a 5 minute walk away.

We are also ideally located to get to the various local towns that are dotted around the area and the historic town of Montpellier is 30 minutes away by TGV/RER from our local train station, Gare d'Agde.

Marseillan Plage (beach) is only 10 minutes away by car, 15 minutes by bike and an hour on foot. It offers many bars, restaurants and shops to while away ones time, and, if you wish to partake, the nightlife can be quite lively.

The house is located very close to the les Étangs du Bagnas, a nature reserve, so there is plenty of areas to walk around to see nature doing its thing.

It always pays to bring with you something warm to wear in the event that the weather changes and most importantly, an umbrella - cause when it rains here, it buckets down!

Laptops are available for use on the premises. Free WiFi access is also available.
